Garbage & Recycling

 There will be no garbage collection on Monday, September 1, 2024

 

When putting cardboard and paper recycling to the curb, please make sure it is either bound or in rigid plastic containers.

 

Regular Garbage Collection: 

  • Mondays and Thursdays (Garbage Pickup A) for residents living in the area to the west of Grover Cleveland Park and south of Bloomfield Avenue
  • Tuesdays and Fridays (Garbage Pickup B) for all other residents

Bulk Garbage Collection:

  • 2nd Wednesday of the month – Monday & Thursday Garbage Route

  • 4th Wednesday of the Month -  Tuesday & Friday Garbage Route.

  • Bulk items including tables, chairs, sofas, rugs, mattresses, household debris etc., are permitted to be placed at the curb on Bulk day pickup. 

The following needs recycling stickers: metal items, appliances & tires. Call 973-403-4635 for sticker information.

Recycling in Caldwell is picked up every Thursday, the type of recycling alternates every week between Co-mingled (including glass, plastic, metal parcels) and Paper (including cardboard, paper). To get the current week's pickup type, please see the calendar.

  • Aluminum, glass & plastic - Remove labels from bottles, but bottle caps can remain.
  • Newspapers should be placed in rigid reusable containers. Magazines, junk mail, etc. placed in rigid reusable containers.

According to National Geographic, only 9% of all plastic ever created has been recycled. That means that 91% of all plastic has made its way in some form into the biosphere. The Environmental Commission encourages all residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic products to prevent more plastics from polluting landfills and oceans.
