IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Link to Water Department Page and Water Quality Reports
The Caldwell Water Department is required, as a purchaser of Essex Fell's water, to provide notice that Essex Fells violated a drinking water requirement. Therefore, the Caldwell Water Department is required to notify our customers of this event.
This notification and subsequent action being taken by Essex Fells are driven from new regulations passed by the State of New Jersey pertaining to these particular contaminants. Some of our surrounding communities have received similar notifications due to these stringent NJ DEP regulations.
The state levels are at a threshold which is 1/5th of the Federal EPA requirements which thus provides for stricter guidelines and therefore cleaner water. This is part of the process of providing residents with cleaner water. We will work closely with our water suppliers in Essex Fells to make sure that we are brought back within acceptable levels as soon as possible.
If the borough needs to conduct a virtual meeting to answer resident questions, we will bring in Essex Fells representatives for that meeting.
In addition, there will be a letter with the water bills that will be mailed next week.
