Milling and Paving

Reconstruction of Oak Grove Road, White Birch Terrace and Park Avenue

Dear Residents and Business Owners/Managers The contractor has submitted and the Borough has approved their schedule to complete the last portion of the roadway project which is the milling and paving of all of the streets. These dates are all weather permitting.

The schedule is as follows:

Milling of Oak Grove Road and White Birch Terrace – May 7th (7 am to 6 pm) One Day

Milling of Park Avenue – May 8th (7 am to 6 pm) One Day

Paving of Oak Grove Road and White Birch Terrace – May 12th (7 am to 6 pm) One Day

Paving of Park Avenue – May 13th (7 am to 6 pm)

One Day During the milling work, your road(s) will be closed to thru traffic but open to local traffic and emergency vehicles only. The milling of each road should take less than one day to complete, General public access will be allowed upon completion that same evening. Extreme caution must be used when driving through the milling work zones.

During the paving work, your road will be entirely closed and inaccessible for a majority of the day. No vehicles can be parked on the street during this operation. Please have your vehicle(s) parked on a local street outside of the construction area or in a municipal parking lot the night before the paving. The Caldwell Police can assist with any questions or concerns in regards to parking. We have created a map and a brief FAQ which is on the Borough website. This will show the street closures as well as answer some common questions which are typically asked. The website is www.caldwell-nj.com In all, paving on your road should take one (1) day to complete and one (1) day to cure. You will be able to drive on it once the police have removed all the barricades, however, upon completion of the final paving, we ask that you limit the amount of travel for a 24-hour period, this is so your roadway has the best opportunity to fully cure. There will be temporary signage with timeframe when parking restrictions will be in effect and the Caldwell PD will oversee all traffic control. Please note that any inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may cause delays to this schedule. If a schedule change occurs, you will be advised by an additional notice from the contractor. After milling and paving, the last step of striping takes one day, and will be scheduled and communicated to affected residents. We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation, and more importantly, your patience during this longer than expected period of improvement for your area. We understand the amount of disruption you have endured throughout this project, so we will be doing our best to limit the inconvenience to you as we finish this project. The end result will be well worth it.

If for any reason you have questions, special needs or medical concerns, please contact my office at 973-226-1250 or email me at mdecarlo@caldwell-nj.com Once again, thank you for your cooperation and patience during this project.
